Research Institute of Food & Nutritional Sciences(RIFNS) was established In 1992 to respond to the growing awareness of the need for knowledge about better food and nutrition by Koreans throughout the life cycle. The purpose of the Institute is to contribute in disease prevention, national health promotion, and actualization of a welfare society. RIFNS promotes basic and applied research with the approach of interdisciplinary, educational-industrial cooperation, and international cooperation within the fields of food sciences, nutritional sciences, and foodservice management RIFNS provides regular seminars, symposia and workshops internally and internationally. A Post-doctoral program is also provided to cultivate professional researchers. RIFNS was designated continuously as an "Outstanding Research Institute" by the Ministry of Education and awarded a grant annually for advanced research equipments from 1996 to 2001.
